Périphéria is a cosmopolitan, Montreal-based production company known for bold, genre-defying films that resonate across borders. From Bruno Mourral’s Kidnapping Inc. (Sundance 2024), a razor-sharp Haitian political satire, to Jean-Claude Barny’s Fanon (2025), a gripping portrait of Frantz Fanon’s revolutionary years in Algeria, to In Cold Light (Tribeca 2025), a stylized action thriller by Maxime Giroux starring Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) and Academy Award winners Troy Kotsur (CODA) and Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets, The Sessions) — our work merges artistic ambition with political urgency and cultural depth.
Our films premiere at top international festivals and travel widely. Philippe Lacôte’s Night of the Kings, an Oscar-shortlisted Ivory Coast contender, launched in Venice before screening at TIFF and Sundance. Distributed by Neon in the U.S., it was named one of the best films of 2021 by the BBC, Rolling Stone, and USA Today. Zaynê Akyol’s Gulîstan, Land of Roses (2017), a feature documentary on Kurdish female fighters, screened at over 60 festivals and won multiple awards. We also co-produced Lemonade (2018), directed by Ioana Uricaru and lead produced by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu, which premiered at Berlinale Panorama and sold internationally.

Yanick Létourneau
Co-founder & Producer
Yanick Létourneau is an internationally recognized film producer and the co-founder of Périphéria, the Montreal-based company he launched nearly 25 years ago with Diego Briceño. From the beginning, their shared vision shaped Périphéria into a home for bold, politically engaged cinema with a global outlook — a space where artistic risk and social relevance meet.
Létourneau is committed to producing meaningful, character-driven films that challenge dominant narratives and amplify underrepresented voices. His work — spanning fiction, documentary, and hybrid forms — has screened at top festivals including Venice, Sundance, TIFF, and Tribeca.
Beyond production, Létourneau is deeply involved in the industry ecosystem. He co-founded the Union of Quebec Film Producers (UPPCQ) and the RIDM Forum, the industry platform of the Montreal International Documentary Festival. A participant in Eurodoc, EAVE+, and ACE Producers, he also teaches regularly at Concordia University and other institutions in Quebec.
His guiding principle remains clear: to support films that matter — works that provoke, connect, and endure. As a Quebec-based producer, he believes in backing stories that are both locally grounded and globally resonant — especially those that resist simplification and speak to our shared humanity in a fractured world.
Leslie Dabit
Head of Development, Content Producer
An alumna of the 2024 Cannes ImpAct Lab, Leslie Dabit has been shaping Périphé-ria’s development slate since joining the company in 2017.
With over 10 years of experience in independent cinema, she specializes in championing authentic narratives that reflect the diversity of our society, amplifying the voices of emerging cre-ators and marginalized communities. Leslie’s keen editorial sensibility and passion for human-centered storytelling have been instrumental in bringing compelling projects to life. In 2024, she produced her first feature film, INVISIBLES by Junna Chif, marking a significant milestone in her career and further demonstrating her commitment to stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Pierre Villepelet
Producer
Pierre Villepelet joined Peripheria as a producer in 2020 to support international co-productions while working to develop and produce inspiring works that carry the voices of underrepresented communities, and not only, destined for creative cinema.
After completing his first feature film, INVISIBLES, directed by Junna Chif, he is currently working on the development of several fiction and animation projects, as well as being involved in supporting the next generation of filmmakers. Coming from an art-film background, he defends an ambitious arthouse filmmaking style that's open to the world and showcases impulsive, offbeat works that move the lines.
